“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace and with his wounds we are healed.”Isaiah 53:4,5 ESV Bible “Who believes what we’ve heard and seen? Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this? The servant grew up before God-a scrawny seedling, a scrubby plant in a parched field. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing to cause us to take a second look. He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on him, thought he was scum. But the fact it was our pains he carried, our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us. We thought he brought it on himself , that God was punishing him for his own failures. But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him-our sins. He took the punishment that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed. We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him, on him.” Isaiah 53:1-5 Message version of the Bible
Prayer “God how well you know us. You know our brokenness and our sins. You know our waywardness. You know all the things we’ve done wrong in our whole life. You know all the problems we’ve had and how they’ve wounded our hearts. You know us so well. We present our lives to you. We present our hearts to you, right here right now. We give them to you and ask you to heal our broken hearts and our broken emotions. Forgive us. Save us. We ask you to heal us and put us back together. Only you can do that Jesus. Only you. Bring healing to our hearts. Pour out comfort. Bring healing to our lives. Bring healing to our families in Jesus’ name.We ask you to save us and our families. “
